As a former mortgage broker, I chose to use Better because their pricing (rate and costs) was the most competitive, by a mile. I was presently surprised however, to discover that the process was seamless and easy to navigate. The only area they can still improve upon is their closing department, and I would still give them an A-. I shopped 4 competitors for rate and costs and no one could even come close. Better is simply the best!
Don't trust in this company. Brie and Justin are really bad. They spend me a month asking me a lot of task about my income (same tasks multiple times) and a lot of money (land survey/appraisal/inspections). And in the final denied. I change to a local lender. Please don't do a business with this company. You will loose time, the property you are buying and money.

Be warned! I have been working on a loan for a couple months with Better and We have sailed through the process so far and I have answered every request and completed every task assigned to me. We locked in a rate and terms several weeks ago. At no time was it ever indicated there was an issue. I called today to schedule the appraisal, which was also paid for weeks ago, and was told I need to increase the down payment two weeks prior to closing. They also provided no acceptable explanation, and worse, they stated the requirement for additional down was determined 2 weeks ago, but never communicated to me. They also failed to mention that by requesting the refund of the appraisal my account was immediately closed out. Stay away!!
Terrible communication. Hard to get people on the phone
Not sure why they are in the lending business when they don't give loans unless you're a millionaire. Make over 150k in reported income 720+ credit score and you will be denied after 3 weeks of them running you around wanting this want that. What others are saying negatively about Better Mortgage is true. Run away and save yourself the grief and the reduction in credit score after they pull a hard credit check on you and don't use it. Their determination is solely off income and it better be above 150k a yr because I didn't qualify.

I had a truly frustrating experience with Better Mortgage. They were incredibly unresponsive, making it nearly impossible to get the information I needed. When they did communicate, they seemed more interested in prying into personal reasons for my choices than providing assistance. To make matters worse, they initially agreed to a rate lock and then abruptly canceled it, leaving me in a difficult position. It's clear that they need to improve their customer service and transparency.
Do not apply with this lender. They do not give you any information on their criteria up front. Then they tell you to do all the tasks as soon as possible, then say it isn't their fault that you completed the tasks because they were on holiday. Now I have an extra hard credit pull on my account that could have been prevented if they were more up front with their criteria (that is different than the standard). I also received terrible customer service in the meantime. I do not recommend this lender.
They lend me the money I needed to purchase a home.
